Clarksville-Montgomery County School Board Chairman, small business owner, husband, father, and candidate for State House District 67. A native of Clarksville, Lanier is the owner of Lanier Lawn & Landscape, a 24-year-old local business. Born and raised in Clarksville, Lanier attended Norman Smith Elementary, graduated from Clarksville High School, and earned his degree in Agriculture from Austin Peay State University. He is also a Leadership Clarksville Class of 2023 graduate. Lanier’s wife, Carrie, is a first grade teacher at Rossview Elementary School, his mother served as a teacher and retired as the counselor of Sango Elementary, and Chris himself has actively contributed to educational initiatives, including serving as a Partner in Education and serving through the Kiwanis Club of Clarksville’s effort to donate nearly 4,000 books to students through the CMCSS Education Foundation. Lanier said his campaign is grounded in service, community, and a commitment to the families of Clarksville and Montgomery County. “Clarksville is home,” Lanier said. “This community has shaped who I am, and I’m running to serve District 67 with practical leadership, a strong work ethic, and a focus on the issues that matter most to local families.” He currently serves as chairman of the Clarksville-Montgomery County School Board after previously serving as vice-chair. Lanier said his campaign will focus on practical solutions, infrastructure, strong schools, public safety, and representing the needs of District 67 with integrity, care and common sense.

As I reflect on my journey, I’m reminded that my calling to serve didn’t begin in politics — it began in ministry. In 2004, while attending a Christian college in Columbus, Ohio, I caught the spark of civic engagement when I volunteered in the presidential election. I still remember knocking on doors in the rain for the Bush campaign, believing deeply that conservative leadership mattered — and it still does today. For the past 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of serving in church leadership, walking with people through both their highest and hardest moments. That same heart for service is what led me to public office — first as the first elected Republican on the Clarksville-Montgomery County School Board, and now as your State Representative for District 68. I absolutely love our community. Clarksville-Montgomery County, in my opinion, is the best place to live, work, and raise a family. When COVID shut down our schools, I saw firsthand the toll it took on our children and families. That’s when I felt called to take action — to stand up, lead, and be a voice for parents and students. Since then, I’ve worked to bring that same energy, conviction, and faith into representing District 68 — advancing conservative values, championing education freedom, expanding infrastructure and healthcare access, and ensuring that fiscal responsibility and public safety remain priorities for our growing community. “When I become your next State Representative, I will finish out my term on the School Board.” I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together, but there’s still more work to do. I’m running for re-election to continue serving with integrity, accountability, and a steadfast commitment to the values that make our community strong. Michael Lankford is a member of the Republican Party and currently serves in the Tennessee House of Representatives, representing District 75. He assumed office on January 13, 2026, and his current term will conclude on November 3, 2026. Lankford was appointed by the Montgomery County Commission on December 8, 2025, following the death of his predecessor, Jeff Burkhart, and was selected to complete the remainder of Burkhart’s term. Born on April 16, 1995, Lankford is a lifelong resident of Clarksville, Tennessee. He graduated from Clarksville High School before earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Business from Austin Peay State University. He later pursued a Master of Science degree in Agriculture Business and Risk Management at the University of Tennessee at Martin. His academic background reflects a strong interest in agriculture and business, areas that have influenced his professional and political priorities. Prior to his appointment to the Tennessee House, Lankford served as a Montgomery County Commissioner from 2022 to 2025, where he gained experience in local governance and community leadership. Lankford’s professional and civic involvement extends beyond politics. He has been active in organizations such as the Queen City Masonic Lodge #761, the Kiwanis Club of Clarksville, and the Central Civitan. He is also a member of Second Mile Baptist Church, underscoring his commitment to faith and community service. His participation in the Leadership Tennessee NEXT Program further highlights his dedication to leadership development and civic engagement. In the Tennessee House of Representatives, Lankford serves on several committees, including the Commerce Committee, the State & Local Government Committee, the Business & Utilities Subcommittee, the Departments & Agencies Subcommittee, and the Public Service Subcommittee.
